Job Description

Caron Equipment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surface Mining Construction Superintendent to oversee the daily operations of our construction projects. The Superintendent will be responsible for managing all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with company standards and safety regulations. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader who excels in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering excellence in every aspect of the job.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee the daily operations of construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and all applicable codes.

  • Manage and coordinate the work of all site personnel including subcontractors and labourers, and ensure all are adhering to company standards and project specifications.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact on the construction site for all subcontractors, suppliers, and government officials.

  • Conduct regular site meetings to review project status, discuss problems, and provide solutions that keep projects moving forward on schedule and within budget.

  • Maintain strict adherence to budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards.

  • Promptly resolve any issues or delays in construction, including those involving changes in scope or design, weather conditions, or supply chain challenges.

  • Ensure proper documentation of construction progress and compliance with set plans and specifications.

  • Implement risk management procedures and ensure all safety protocols are followed to minimize work-related accidents and promote a safe work environment.

  • Evaluate and provide regular performance feedback to staff and subcontractors, ensuring professional development and adherence to company standards.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in construction management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes, including design, materials, tools, and implementation practices.

  • Proven track record of managing complex construction projects successfully.

  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate, guide, and manage teams.

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining strong relationships with team members, subcontractors, and clients.

  • Proficient in construction management software and technology.

  • Able to work at our remote worksites on a rotational basis.
